The family behind Three Boys and Some Chicks has been working for a decade on growing a superior egg. A large part of that time has been spent winterizing chickens for their own safety and comfort but also for egg production. We have found it to be as much a logistical exercise as one of time and energy exercise.
If eggs need to be gathered every hour or a negative windchill will crack them, then the trailers had better be close to the house. If water freezes the trailers then water had better be close to electricity. I’m proud to announce that this winter is going as well as any winter has in the last 10 years!
