On July 7, 2015, Indiana Grown soared to new heights with its official launch at Waterman’s Family Farm in Indianapolis. Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann captivated the audience with her enthusiasm for the initiative and presented the official unveiling of Indiana Grown.

Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director and Indiana Grown Commission member, Ted McKinney provided remarks and background about the Indiana Grown initiative. He encouraged all attendees that Indiana Grown is a “big tent” for agriculture. Indiana Grown is for small farms, and it is for large farm. It is for low tech; it is for high tech. It is for urban agriculture; it is for rural agriculture. It is for all planters, producers, and processors of Indiana products.

Rounding out the event Rep. Matt Lehman, author of the Indiana Grown Initiative House Enrolled Act 1039, went into more detail about the initiative, why he choose to be a vital pieces to the foundation of the initiative and how it will benefit communities across Indiana.

Numerous Indiana Grown members attended in support of the launch and were available to share their excitement, answer questions, and promote their products. Non-members and media were able to learn more about Indiana Grown and view Indiana Grown products on display at the launch.  Due to the success of the launch, Indiana Grown now has close to 200 members and continues to receive member applications on a daily basis.
