Indiana Grown is proud to share some exciting news about a local unique member. Sip & Share Wines has won the Pacers/Key Bank 2020 Small Business of the Year Award. This program recognizes Indiana small businesses who are strong companies, who are engaged in their communities and who are actively helping others. This year’s winner is Sip & Share Wines – Founder/Vintner Nicole Kearney. Sip & Share was chosen from more than 50 applicants because of how owner Nicole Kearney utilizes her businesses as a connection point across the community.

How did Sip & Share Wines begin?
The idea stems from sipping and sharing wines while the owner was in graduate school. Nicole made red and white Sangria and served to family and friends, and they encouraged her to share with others. Also African Americans are underrepresented by the wine industry, and Nicole wanted to get involved.

How has Sip & Share Wines evolved?
In 2018, the company pivoted to a micro-winery producing a variety of artisanal, vegan wines. In January 2019, the business launched the 7 Words Wine Collection. The collection includes: Intention Riesling, Love White Zinfandel, Awaken Sweet White, Gratitude Red Blend, Abundance Sweet Red, Conjure Zinfandel and Manifest Chardonnay.

What is Sip & Share Wines bestselling wine?
The first wine Nicole ever made was the white and red sangria. Those two are still the company’s best sellers. The white is called Awaken and the red is called Abundance.

Sip & Share Wines is the second African American winery ever established in Indiana. The first winery no longer exists as the founder is deceased.
