Indiana Grown in 2020

Jan 2, 2020 | News

As the Indiana Grown initiative is growing closer to its 5-year mark, we wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on our collective hard work. In 5 years we have grown from an idea to a program helping to get more locally grown and produced foods on student lunch trays. We have launched several successful retail projects with Target, Needler’s and in many area hospitals and universities. In 2020 we are opening the nation’s first agriculture/airport partnership at the Indianapolis International Airport: Farmers Market featuring Indiana Grown.

These are all big accomplishments of which we are proud. More important than these high impact projects are the ripple effects each one has caused. We have over 1500 members and partners in Indiana and each and every one has a part to play in the success of the program. It is because of our members that we strive to grow this economic development brand, and our hope is that we are good stewards of the agriculture industry. Every day our members share with us their successes and struggles, good news and uphill battles. They are our constant reminder that every decision we make has to be for the betterment of our membership- which is why we do what we do every day.

Angela Grant, Indiana Grown Operations Specialist

We’ve also had some recent changes to our team. Angela Grant was hired in October of 2019 as the new Operations Specialist for Indiana Grown. Angela is a Hoosier from Bargersville, Indiana. Angela’s passion for agriculture began at a young age. She graduated from Purdue University in May of 2015 with a degree in Agribusiness, a minor in Crop Science, and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. She is looking forward to serving Indiana Grown and is happy to be a part of a great team.

In addition to Angela joining our team, we are looking to expand again in 2020 with a fourth position, so stay tuned!

We also recently welcomed Seth Grant to the Indiana Grown Commission. Seth is the General Manager of Culinary Services and Business Operations at Eskenazi Health and was appointed by Lt. Governor Crouch to replace the open seat due to Roy Ballard’s retirement. His experience and passion for local products is an exciting and valuable addition to our commission!

As we continue to look forward to what will come in 2020, we’d like to highlight a few of our projects we’ll be continuing or starting this year:

We urge our members and partners to reply to the mailer that was sent out this week. Or you may update your information digitally by clicking HERE. Your responses will help us better serve our membership and consumers.

Our accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of our members, consumers and those who continue to lift up agriculture in Indiana. We are especially thankful for our partnership with Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and her family of business agencies!

Wishing you a Happy New Year from the Indiana Grown team!
