INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 24, 2016) –  Indiana Grown, an initiative developed by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) to promote Hoosier-made agricultural products, announced the partnership between Indiana Pork and Marsh Supermarkets, making pork burger products available in all Marsh store locations throughout Indiana. A press conference for the official partnership between the two Indiana Grown members was held at 10 a.m. at the Indiana Grown Marketplace presented by Marsh during Indiana Pork Day at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the Agriculture Horticulture Building.

“Every year, Indiana Pork’s famous pork burgers are a must-have item at the Indiana State Fair, and now through this partnership, consumers will be able to purchase these products year-round at their local Marsh store – just look for the Indiana Grown logo,” said Ted McKinney, ISDA Director. “This announcement is a great example of how Indiana Grown lives the ‘big tent’ concept and supports all sectors of agriculture, in this case Indiana pork farms, and shows how we are using our network and resources to create opportunities and bring people together.”

Traditionally sold only at the Indiana State Fair, Indiana Pork’s pork burgers are now exclusively available in 72 Marsh locations statewide throughout the year. The partnership and Indiana Grown-labeled burgers will bring awareness and support to the producer association made up of more than 3,000 local hog farmers in Indiana.

“We are thrilled to see this partnership come to fruition thanks to Indiana Grown,” said Jason Slaton, president of the Indiana Pork board of directors. “We are grateful that Marsh is so willing to support Indiana hog farmers and believe this partnership sets an excellent example of the success the Indiana Grown initiative can generate.”

To celebrate the announcement at the fair, Indiana Pork conducted a cooking demonstration to share recipes and best practices on the Marsh Cooking Stage in the Agriculture Horticulture Building. They will also be donating one pound of ground pork to Feeding Indiana’s Hungry for every Indiana Pork meal-upgrade sold at the organization’s various food vendor locations.

“As a longtime supporter of Indiana Grown and its members we are excited about the opportunity to exclusively offer Indiana Pork products to our shoppers,” said David Palmer, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Advertising of Marsh. “We are happy to offer the famous pork burgers to Hoosier consumers and are looking forward to future Indiana Grown member partnerships.”
