Jan 8, 2021 | Featured

Five on Friday is an Indiana Grown feature of our members that shares FIVE interesting things about their farm or business. Get to know member Darnell School Farm as part of this week’s edition!

1. Business/Farm Name

Darnell School Farm

2. Where are you located (city/town) and what county?

Mount Vernon, Posey County

3. What do you sell?/What does your business do?

Cut-flowers, culinary herbs, culinary herbs kits (think ingredients to make pesto) and seasonal vegetables

4. What is an interesting fact about your business?

Where did the name Darnell School Farm come from? The original two-room Darnell School built in 1890 was located across the road from my small farm and still stood until earlier in 2020 when the land owner decided to take it down due to structural issues. It was an amazing structure to have endured so long, it was an appropriate way to honor it.

5. What are your plans for 2021?

Expand my culinary herb and herb kit offerings to include prepared items for those interested in fresh & local but not interested in cooking it for themselves.
